Bus Service Disruptions to Redland Shire on Friday 12 August

Bus services will be disrupted in the Redland Shire from 4am until 8am on Friday 12 August due to a further work stoppage called by the Transport Workers Union (TWU).

The work stoppage will impact services from 4am to 8am on Friday 12 August. Veolia Transport, which runs bus services in the area, will operate the following services during the work stoppage:

• Saturday timetable from 5am - 9am with full weekday services resuming at 9.30am
• Shuttle services between Cleveland and Carindale
• No school services have been scheduled for the morning
• School services will resume in the afternoon

Veolia Transport services operated in Yatala Beenleigh area will not be affected by the planned action being taken.

“We sincerely apologise to our customers for this inconvenience. We have tried to minimise the impact of this work stoppage as much as possible. We will be running approximately 50 city inbound and outbound and local services during the period of the stoppage. The greatest impact will be on school bus services”, said Colin Jennings, Managing Director for Veolia Transport in Queensland.

“The TWU’s behaviour over the last few months has been especially disappointing when we have been making progress throughout the negotiation process. The reality is that this stop work action will ultimately impact on the travelling public and school children making it difficult for people to get to work, school, hospitals and shopping centres,” Mr Jennings said.

Parents are strongly advised to make alternative arrangements for getting their children to school on Friday 12 August.

Please refer to the TransLink website at www.translink.com.au or call TransLink on 13 12 30 for information on specific services that will operate during this period.
