Veolia Transdev Australasia, operating as Southern Coast Transit in Perth, will begin operating buses in the Joondalup area from Sunday 1 May 2011.
The Joondalup contract was put out to tender for renewal in June 2010 by the Western Australian Public Transport Authority (PTA). Veolia Transdev was announced as the preferred tenderer for the contract in November 2011.
Terry Scott, Managing Director for Veolia Transport Perth said, “We are delighted to have been selected to operate this contract and have been working hard to ensure a smooth transition for our customers and employees. Our ongoing priority is to provide our customers with a safe, comfortable and reliable experience when they travel with us.”
The eight year Joondalup contract covers the northern suburbs of Perth and includes 113 buses, 210 employees and 3 depots.
Veolia Transdev is a leading passenger transport operator. In Perth, Veolia Transdev operates the Fremantle, Mandurah/Rockingham and Perth CATs contracts on behalf of the PTA. It also operates buses in Queensland, New South Wales and the south west of Western Australia, light rail and monorail in Sydney, commuter rail in Auckland and ferries in Brisbane.
